چکیده

Background Excessive bleeding after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is risk factor for adverse outcomes after elective cardiac surgery (ECS). Differentiation between patients who bleed due to surgical issues and those whose excessive chest tube output (CTO) is due to hemostatic disorder remains challenging. Study aim was to evaluate prediction of excessive bleeding after ECS using fibrin-based clot firmness parameter of rotational thromboelastometry (FIBTEM test).

Rotational thromboelastometry predicts thromboembolic complications after major non-cardiac surgery

INTRODUCTION Thromboembolic complications contribute substantially to perioperative morbidity and mortality. Routine laboratory tests do not detect patients with acquired or congenital hypercoagulability who may be at increased risk of perioperative thromboembolism. Rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) is a digitized modification of conventional thromboelastography that is stable and technical...

Preoperative thromboelastometry for the prediction of increased chest tube output in cardiac surgery

Bleeding following cardiac surgery is a serious event with potentially life-threatening consequences. Preoperative recognition of coagulation abnormalities and detection of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) related coagulopathy could aid in the start of preventive treatment strategies that minimize perioperative blood loss. Most algorithms that analyze thromboelastometry coagulation tests in electiv...

Coagulopathies in Cyanotic Cardiac Patients: An Analysis with Three Point-of-care Testing Devices (Thromboelastography, Rotational Thromboelastometry, and Sonoclot Analyzer)

INTRODUCTION In the last few years, viscoelastic point-of-care (POC) coagulation devices such as thromboelastography (TEG), rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), and Sonoclot (SON) analyzer have been increasingly used in major surgeries for timely assessment and management of coagulopathies. The aim of the present study was to evaluate coagulation profile of cyanotic cardiac patients with TEG,...

Activated coagulation time vs. Intrinsically activated modified rotational thromboelastometry in assessment of hemostatic disturbances and blood loss after protamine administration in elective cardiac surgery: analysis from the clinical trial (NCT01281397)

BACKGROUND Excessive bleeding after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is risk factor for adverse outcomes after elective cardiac surgery (ECS). Although many different point-of-care devices to diagnose hemostatic disturbances after CPB are available, the best test is still unclear. The study aim was to compare the accuracy of hemostatic disorder detection between two point-of-care devices. METHODS...

Predictive value of rotational thromboelastometry during cardiopulmonary bypass for thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia after weaning of cardiopulmonary bypass

BACKGROUND The early detection of coagulopathy helps guide decisions regarding optimal transfusion management during cardiac surgery. This study aimed to determine whether rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) analysis during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) could predict thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia after CPB. METHODS We analyzed 138 cardiac surgical patients for whom ROTEM tests and ...
